Under the patronage of the President of University of Diyala, Professor Dr. Tahseen Hussein Mubarak,
and headed by the Dean of the College of Education for Human Sciences, Professor Dr. Luay Saehood Fawaz Al-Tamimi,
the Department of Geography and the Spatial Research Unit are holding the 22nd International Scientific Conference on the occasion of World Water Day, in cooperation with UN-Water,
under the slogan: “Smart Water: Water Security and Sustainability for Generations.”
 

Conference Preamble

The 22nd International Scientific Water Conference is being held in response to growing water challenges, aiming to promote scientific research and exchange expertise and knowledge to find sustainable solutions that contribute to protecting water resources, achieving water security, and serving sustainable development.

Conference Objectives.

  • Introducing the concept of sustainability and its role in developing methods of water resources management and utilizing modern technologies.
  • Exploring the role of Artificial Intelligence, digital technologies, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Remote Sensing, and the Internet of Things (IoT) in monitoring and efficiently managing water resources.
  • Highlighting the challenges facing water security, particularly water scarcity, climate change, pollution, waste, and mismanagement of water resources.
  • Employing modern technologies to achieve sustainable development through rationalizing water consumption, reducing losses, reusing water, and improving distribution efficiency.
  • Providing scientific and strategic visions and solutions that contribute to enhancing water security and building a sustainable water system capable of meeting the needs of current and future generations

  • Full papers will be accepted from December 11, 2026, to February 11, 2027
  • Conference Registration Fees: 50,000 Iraqi Dinars
  • Research papers will be included in a dedicated Conference Proceedings book.
